Dear Publisher:
It is time for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2005! This year the Fair will be held from 19 to 23 October 2005. The Frankfurt Book Fair by all standards is the most prestigious of the international book fairs held anywhere in the world. Hailed as the central meeting point of the publishing world, it is also a global 'Rights Fair', with facilities for trading in the exchange of rights – publishing, reprint, translation. Arguably, it is an event every publisher looks forward to every year. As you are aware that the Frankfurt Book Fair Authorities have announced India as the Guest of Honour Country for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2006 with a view to strengthening the Indian presence and making it more meaningful and attractive, the NBT has planned a number of programmes during the Frankfurt Book Fair 2005 as a curtain raiser for GHP – FBF – 2006. It includes the setting up of a specially designed India Pavilion – Books from India – in which 25 private publishers are also joining NBT in a joint stand. The NBT will also be representing the Indian publishing industry at Frankfurt by showcasing a collective exhibit of recent titles brought out by various Indian publishers. India is a modern developing country with a strong list of publications in the social sciences, history, Indian culture, philosophy, religion, contemporary literature, science and technology, besides books on history, biographies, fine arts, painting, engineering, medicine, ayurveda, naturopathy and homoeopathy, e-books and children's books. Books on most of these subjects, approximately 250 in number, shall be displayed at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2005. The display will also include books in Hindi. I look forward to your cooperation.
With regards, Yours sincerely (K.B. KAPUR)
